It’s the first of June and I feel like it’s the end of an era. We announced that we will probably shut down Deep Magic in our June issue. This e-zine has been a labor of love for over 4 years now. I have learned so much about the publishing industry, writing, and the readers through this e-zine. So the thought of closing it down is discouraging, yet at the same time, I’m tired of it as well. Our pledge drive this year was pretty pathetic – we only had 3-4 readers who contributed anything. Yet we are getting close to a thousand downloads a month, and for some issues several times that number. I’m proud of what we accomplished, and I would rather end things on a high note than closing on a whimper. Jeremy, the chief editor and one of my best friends, is coming out to California in a few weeks. It will be interesting at that time to see what happens this week.
