I heard in the news yesterday that my favorite book of all-time (Terry Brooks’ Elfstones of Shannara) will be made into a movie. I am very excited about the possibility, and also a wee bit nervous. You never know what Hollywood is going to do to a film until you see it, but I think Elfstones has potential to be a great movie. I contacted Terry’s webmaster and he told me that the screenplay was written by Eldon Thompson.
I’m sure glad that the Lord of the Rings trilogy helped validate fantasy as a mainstream genre. Just like Braveheart made it cool to like medieval history. Hope the trend persists a while!
