Wheeler has woven a grand story based on the actual adventures of William Marshall in the time of King Stephen I of England, recasting the basic themes of King Arthur legends: loyalty and courage in the face of adversity.
It's been a very long time since I've read a book I couldn't put down. This series is one. It evokes every emotion as you are drawn into it. The characters are so reall and I definitely advise having a box of tissues handy. Excellent.
With this superlative epic fantasy…Wheeler does an expert job of reintroducing his fantasy world through the eyes of sympathetic characters that fans and new readers alike will root for. This is sure to be a hit.
